Created when Aotearoa New Zealand was a submarine landmass, these gigantic limestone outcrops appear other-wordly in their high-country setting. Towering overhead, they dwarf those who ‘free climb’ the rocks, picnic in summer, or toboggan down the slopes in winter. One of the locations for Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings.
